Breast Prosthesis / Enlargement Mammoplasty

This involves the placement of breast prostheses, commonly referred to as silicone due to the material the prosthesis is made of. Those who elect this form of surgery usually have breasts that are proportionately smaller than their thorax. This can be noted after puberty or after significant weight loss or even after periods of lactation for a pregnancy. Currently, three surgical techniques exist for breast implants: Inframammary fold (beneath the breasts), areola or the axilla. Modern prostheses are filled with a cohesive gel that will not leak even in the case of an accidental rupture
